Sybex just released a new one but their first book for security+ was poor, very poor according to reviews so wait and see if the new version will improve . Have you looked at syngress' book? i heard thats the best....

i have always felt that sybex books lack depth, when it comes to anything mcp (270) or A+, dont know much about security + though. If there is a mike meyers one then i think that would be pretty helpful

Yes it does, click here for more info. You either need the combi of the A+ & Network+ or just the sec+.

I agree, the syngress books are very good, imo for both MS & Comptia exam. Another book you may also want to get is the ExamCram2 Q & A's for Security+ (to be used in conjunction with the other book). I've found that Examcram books are good with comptia exams but not MS exams.

Good luck when you take the exam.

Thanks for the help guys :D

Cant find the syngress book on amazon however (or at least a syngress book dedicated to security+), could someone point me in the right direction?

Yup id seen sybex's new edition but if its got poor reviews i will leave it out. Id heard it was good for network+ however?

Is this the correct exam cram 2 book?

Hopefully ill pick up this one along with the syngress book if i can find it!!

Oh and this was the Mike Meyers one:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos...8-7/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i7_xgl/026-3420481-2593239

Its only a "passport" however, guess this means quick study guide? But maybe good to suppliment the syngess book if i can find it!

    Theres also this one!

Looks to be by the same publishers as Mike Meyers A+ one?

That book in conjunction with this one should be useful to you.

I'm surprised that the Sybex book got poor reviews this time round, but then again I guess no one can product excellent materials 100% of the time :biggrin

A+ when combined with the Network+ count as an elective for MCSA.

Security+ on its own counts as an elective for both the MCSE and MCSA.

    Here you go:

The All-in-One book is okay, from what I understand some of the chapters are not indepth enough for the exam, the Passport book by Mike Myers is rubish, does not prepare you for the exam at all.

The Security+ exam is one of the hardest that comptia has put out so check out the Syngress Press book and maybe back it up with this as well:

The first book, I haven't heard of, but there is a symbol saying learnkey. I do like using learnkey material, but I have to say the interactive CD's, I've never used the book.

The second link shows the Passport book. To tell the truth, I don't find MM's Passport book that great. Don't get me wrong, I use them once in a blue moon, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find and hunt one down.

It looks like GW found the book before I had a chance to it dig up :biggrin
