    Hi guys,

Right, I'm completely bamboozled. I've just booked for my Comptia A+ Essentials exam (601) for the 24th of Oct.

However, when I was booking online, I noticed these exams:

    220-301 A+ Core Hardware
    220-302 A+ Operating Systems Technologies
    220-601 CompTIA A+ Essentials (2007 Edition) Exam
220-602 CompTIA 220-602 Exam (IT Technician designation pathway)

What the hell is the 301 and 302? I was under the impression that I need to do the 601/2 to become A+ certified? Am I barking up the wrong tree or am I correct here?

    So if I pass the 601, I do 602 then I'm certified?

    Cheers.

Somebody will be along shortly to confirm but i think that the 301 and 302 exams might be the old 2003 standard, whereas 601/602/603/604 are the new 2006 standard

Yes, the 600 series of exams are the new exams (see Comptia's page here), the 300 series of exams are the old ones.

I believe the the 300 series of exams are still available to certain countries (but not the US & the UK), just like SDI/HDI certs. The new SDI certs are available world-wide, but in certain countries they are still allowed to take the older HDI certs.
