The GIMP works great and is really easy to use:

The GIMP is a fabulous program, but somewhat of a sledgehammer for this problem! :biggrin

You might try IrfanView which can do simple manipulation like this.

    It is also free.

I looked at it in Fireworks.

The large file size problem is caused by the fact that there are over 200 frames in that animation. With some tweaking you might be able to delete half of those frames and still have an animation that looks okay but it won't look as good as the original.

    Hi TCM,

Prob is most likely not with your rendering of the gif - it's the filesize. I understand that by getting the Av to 100x100 you would assume it would work, but the increase in filesize for the animation involved means it is way above the size limit (which I'm desperately trying to locate the actual figure for - Mods ? ) Anyhoo - the size of your gif is 192.81kB, which is WAY over the allowed size. Again, I will check figures, but Premium Members get to have a bigger Av filesize (note - I am not trying to punt this on you, just stating a fact).

    HTH for now :)

    Mod to the rescue :biggrin

So with a 100x100 pixel image the max file size is 25KB

    Use Fireworks.
Go to the export wizard and click on the 'constrain file size for export' wizard (it's an icon that looks a bit like a G-Cramp).
You can specify this to choose a target file size for your finished animation.
I can't promise it will crank it that far down.
The other solution has already been mentioned, delete every few frames and see what happens.

Or, having watched the entire animation, why not just throw away the last half to spare our more sensitive members?

Man hitting head on keyboard = funny.
Man's eyeballs falling out = not something I want to be watching before breakfast...

when you edit your avatar, look underneath the field for uploading your avatar. it will say: the maximum size of your custom image is ...
note that it says 10.0kb, not 100kb as you assumed in your first post.
