LOL yup the ref lost the plot, not sure why Australia were gifted that first penalty but hey all's fair in love and war.

So it's on to meet Italy on Monday morning, that will be a real challenge for Australia. Fingers crossed, you never know we might get a cranky ref again :blink

I hope you are right Zimbo, mainly because this is the first time since I have lived here that Australia have paid any attention to football. I've been trying to tell them for years that they are missing out on the real game of football. Prior to now they thought football and or footy were played with a pear shaped ball - Let's hope this alters their perception :blink

We (Italy) will crush you (Australia). No ifs, buts, or ands. Just wait and see.

We may lack pace, but we have an impenetrable defence, and can counter attack splendidly. We have players with far more experience than the Socceroos can ever hope to have, coupled with young strikers that add what the older defence may lack in.

Prepare to die a slow and agonizing death. (Naw, we'll make it swift and final.)

Well ok , Mr Poll messed up somewhat, but is there not 2 linesmen plus a 4th and 5th officials. Now none of you know this but i used to be a ref, not on the scale like the world cup refs but all the same pretty hard to do. Tho i was quite good with the players who swore at me, id book them and basically not hear a peep out of them through the rest of the game .

As for blues comment about Harry Kewell,i know the qualities he has, and i really want him to do the stuff for us, but i really think hes just at liverpool for the money. The last season hes started playing a bit , but nowhere near his leeds days which is the Harry i want. I seen him play for Aus the other night and he played like a different person.

If Italy play well and they beat Oz then I would say that is fair enough. I have always admired the Italian team and I will be looking forward to see them play on Monday. I haven't seen them for a long while as almost no international football is aired free TV here.

The Zimmers will hopefully hamper their attacks and give Australia a fighting chance

Ah well I expect Australia to be doing most of the attacking. That's what Italy does, they let the other team attack and then (try to) catch them by counter attacking, unlike most of the other teams who have a driving attack. It irritates me at times, but it seems to work for them.
