OK folks, I have an audio file of a BCS meeting that I need to play with before it can go up on the web.

    Basically I need to :

    1) chop bits out

    2) change volume level of some sections

    3) try to reduce background noise/hiss (probably same sections where I will need to increase volume level)

Anyone got any software suggestions for doing this (will need to be Open Source i.e. free)

    Thanks folks

I don't deal with audio manipulation directly, however we've installed Audacity at all the schools we support for the same reason you've given.

    Hope that helps :)
