Are there any PHP certifications?

I know of Zend, is that the best (only??) one, or are there others?

Only heard of Zend PHP certification, most people are surprised theres one at all (certification isn't such a big deal in the open source community), can't see there being more...

I had a feeling that was the only one. Those other ones look interesting. Is it really worth it though, or is a good portfolio all that's necessary?

 

Qualification couldn't hurt if you think you'd learn from it, will it get you a job ? Probably not, but then a cert probably won't either.

Experience is number one, having any type of real proof you can do the job is what counts, a portfolio is another way, but portfolios for serverside code are rare.

You'd have to have produced a module that everyone uses or similar.

If you're an all round web designer/developer then yes a portfolio with a bunch of customers and their sites and references would be great. Since this is the web the best portfolio would probably be your own website with all this stuff on it advertising you to the world.
