Hi all, I have enquired about an apprenticeship for the company - awe in computing. I cant really say much I dont think as obviously they are covered by the mod but have a look on the website (Not sure if I can link it?.) I dont really know whats involved but I understand it involves practical and theory. I know they have supercomputers too. Does anyone think this will be a good move as I will need to apply about October this year.

Considering you are 20 years of age are you prepared to work for £90 a week working full time?

Well to be honest mate I can't break back into IT and at the moment I'm moving furniture for 100 a week so seems a better deal to be honest.

    Fair point mate.
And it's better than being unemployed for £60.

Just out of interest, do you expire after a single sentence, or are you just the strong-but-silent type?

    Haha :p

As for the £60 unemployed bit, if it costs £16 a week extra to earn £100 that is only £24 better off from doing a whole weeks work... I don't think I could justify doing it really.

I have a few friends that have done apprenticeships there and the starting wage is quite good to be honest. Obviously they were doing electrcial and gas so it may differ. But I think it may be a good starting point as this would be the second bit of experience on my cv for computing :biggrin. Also it offers onsite practical and theory in college a few days a week. The apprenticeship it funded by the goverment I guess so it also gives me job reliability so it sounds like a good move. Thanks for your comments everyone :biggrin

According to your profile you already got the NVQ 1, 2 & 3, is that not in IT already? If so, there may be issues if you go for it.

My first IT job was a modern apprenticeship at EDS, starting wage was about 11.5k, after passing the NVQ2 it went to 15K then when you completed NVQ3 it went to 19k.
See if you can find something like that.
