Hi Guys

Quick Question about application compatibility in Windows 7.

When you right click on an .exe and select the option ''run this program in compatibility mode for'', lets say Windows 95.

What exactly does the exe do, or how does it install in a way that makes it compatible? Surely Windows doesnt find a way to emulate the different OS environments and thats what allows the application to install as if it was installing on windows 95?

Have you read this before? I read most of it last week, not sure it answers what im asking.

 

Sorry, I seem to have posted the wrong link. There was something on Technet about it, but I now cannot find it. It also covers Data Execution Prevention, which is also in that document, which is why I must have seen it and posted it.
