I've never been a fan of Apple products and like the company itself even less. However, I have come to a situation where im going to have to get some more knowledge/experience of mac OS as i continue to pursue a career in computer forensics.

What Apple exams/courses would you recommend for the basics?

Other than purchasing a mac how easy is the OS to install as a virtual machine?

    Thanks.

See this reply in the thread two below this one: http://www.certforums.co.uk/forums/other-certifications/45200-apple-certifications.html#post391220

As for OS X vm's - it's against the eula unless it's virtualised on mac hardware. This doesn't mean it hasn't, or can't, be done. Google is your friend depending on which virtualisation solution you wish to use, I have read that Virtualbox provides a smoother experience than VMware though.

No 30 day trial then :D

The mac hardware thats just rebranded and costs twice as much as it would cost from the original manufacturer!

Thanks for the link. Hopefully Apple's site will be back up soon.

I would say try the Apple Certified Associate (ACA) Mac Integration cert, it's their entry level cert.

You already know that their site is down at the mo, but here's my post about it :)

Ive got OS X Lion working in VMware. It works ok but seems a little slow. PC spec: i5, 8gb ram, HD6950. I'll use this short term as theres no trial version.

Lion brought about some big changes compared to previous versions of OS X. However, you can figure out most of the differences by looking at the videos on Apple's website and checking out the reviews that are coming out now.
