Yeah, got the Xbox one, I play a bit of Titanfall (however most of my achievements are on the PC version) and more recently I've been playing Assassin's Creed Unity (finished the main game, now just doing the other side missions), got Assassin's Creed Black Flag (however it hasn't grabbed me like Unity). Just ordered Far Cry 4 and hopefully after that, going to get Borderlands handsome collection, as I've enjoy the first two BL games (missed the Pre-quell though) :)

Would have gone for that, but I do like my MS products :)

I really wanted an Xbox as I loved the 360. I had three die on me so the last one pushed me to PS3. Been with Sony since and wanted to go back but seen a few comparrisons where the same game is on both, res being higher on ps4 for a fair few. I wonder what's it like for multimedia? Ps4 is crap to be honest, PS3 is loads better, itv player and the on demand type stuff I mean

Well the reason I got the XB1 was down to Plex being released on it, of course shortly after that it got released on the PS4 as well.

I love Plex but they still need to get the series play thing working (my little one loves Peppa, on the PS3 I can use the media player and it just plays all the episodes, using the Plex client either my wife or I would need to play each individual episode, not idea when they last a couple of minutes only.

In what sense? (re multimedia). I use my Xbox to stream music and videos/movies from my PC. I used to use a 3rd party program (Media Browser 3) to do this, however after several XB1 updates, not sure if I need it anymore as I don't need to start up the program anymore (but not sure if part of it is running in the background). The XB1 likes to play .mp4/.avi files (haven't tried .wmv) but gets confused with .mkv files (however if I play it thru the 3rd party program, it works). I use Handbrake to convert any files that need converting.

As for TV apps, there's a few out there, don't really use it. Added to that you can't route your sky box thru it (like you can in other countries) yet...

Added to that, the amount of hacks the PSN has had recently, should be enough to get you to go down the XB1 route, lol ;)

    Hope that helps :)

Depends on the content as to whether it requires transcoding, all of my content is MP4 and the XB1 plays it just fine via Plex (with no transcoding, I know as I watch the process monitor on my Synology which hosts the Plex daemon).

I would definitely suggest looking at Plex as a solution, they now support it running on a number of NAS solutions as well as various *nix\Win platforms (and Smart TVs for the client). Of course the only issue with something like the NUC may be storage but you can get pretty decent speeds out of a USB 3 device, enough to stream content over.

How much storage would you need?

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-414-WD&groupid=1657&catid=1660&subcat=1667 would give you SSD for the OS and 1TB of disk for data or use something like https://www.overclockers.co.uk/show...ktdetailseite&emcs2=FS-008-IN&emcs3=HD-056-IN and then a normal 2.5" drive internally for data.
