As most of you will know I overclocked my C2D E8400 from 3GHz to 4GHz. My CPU temp whilst under full load has never gone beyond 56 degrees C.

Over the last few days it has been pretty warm outside and so the house is quite hot. After cleaning my PC the other day I decided to put on Real Temp and notice my idle cpu temp was going up by 1 degree then dropping back down.

So I decided to stress test the cpu and at parts of during the stress test my temps were going to 61 degrees c.

Is this just because the fans are sucking in warm air from the room and then blowing it out?

Yeah mate think its just the air temp in summer having an effect. I'd of thought a man of your expertise would be up for a water cooling solution . . . .

something in my head tells me water and electric components don't mix. Can't think why though :D

THe thing is if it's just because of the heat should I be knocking the overclock off amd going back to stock?

I'd love to make my own gaming machine. My missus would kill me tho cos I'd want to spend a fortune, triple screen etc.

Rear wheel drive eh mate, I love em but can get scary on corners . . .

I wish I could get away with it! I'm a total nerd so I'd love to build a dream machine. Just had a baby tho so I'll have to stick with my 360 (which I love).

Ha ha that made me laugh. Evil Kinevil there! No I want a Porshe so if its good enough for them I'l have to get used to it. . . . .unless I can wimp out and get one with 4x4

I got pissed off after my 4th 360 because of the three red rings of death, so I sold the fouth one an dsaved up to buy my parts fro mu super pc.

I drive a BMW which can be fun especially with the traction control off. I went on a track day last week and got to drive an Aston Martin DB9, a lambo LP40 and ferrari.

The lambo was quite twitchy even though it was four wheel drive but the Ferrari was good for sliding around corners.

Yeah I'm on my second 360 myself. I fixed the first one for a time but it went again. Orginal motherboard in it ya see. My new one's got the smaller GPU in so it runs cooler but I've thrown a new fan in the back, a further 2 over the CPU and beside the heatsink and put some stick on heatsinks onto the memory so fingers crossed. I never knew it but I'm quite into modding things :D

My mum and dads BMW can be quite scary if you don't be careful on the bends.

I saw that you went on a track day. Sounds great mate. A few of the fellas I work with have cars they take on track days. Nothing extreme, just the odd Porshe, Elise and TVR.

I'd love a 911 turbo but I'm waiting to see what happens with this new line of work I'm hoping to get into, oh and this child of mine is turning out be quite expensive ha ha
