Newbie Here!

Thought I should drop by and make myself known as chances are I may well become a regular!

My names Ryan, I'm a 24 year old father and IT professional from warwickshire and I guess I'm in a bit of a unique situation.

I have worked my entire IT career so far (5 yrs) in the Healthcare arena. My career progression has been pretty good until recently. The company for which I am currently employed are a huge IT organisation that take on a lot of accounts for IT managed services, the NHS being one them.

Unfortunately the account has been subject to huge budget cuts and I am one of a number of unfortunate souls that have been moved off the account to satisfy these budget requirements. This doesnt mean I've lost my job however...Unamed employer uses a people management technique dubbed 'the bench'. - A pool of resources currently unassigned to a particular account or project.

It is my job whilst on this bench to reskill and make myself available for other opportunities. It is only when the companywide bench number reaches a highpoint that they start offering redundancy packages...so in short for now I'm getting paid to train!

I am currently working on 70-290 (Microsoft Server 2003) with the intention of working towards an MCSA first, then possibly onto an MCSE later with some other bits in between such as SQL Server 2005.
