I never had the benefit of Prof Messer's course, but I followed his A+ and Network+ courses and, if it's the same quality, it's a must-have free resource.
The MSPressbook was the best I tried (the other being the Sybex book, I forget the authors, I gave it away so can't check).
Basically, I agree with RV.
