A kind of follow-on post from my "2 CD-ROMs on one cable ?" thread.

So i've got both CD drives working now, on the same cable. But can I play ordinary audio disks on either ? The heck I can !!!

Keeps giving me "E:\ is currently inaccesible", or "Access to E:\ is denied", yet both drives can run data CDs no probs ?!?!??

Only thing I can add is that I haven't cabled the Analogue output from either drive to the mobo, as I always just use Digital output - straight down the IDE cable. Could this be an issue ?

Please, anyone, bring back my sanity - it's doing my head in big time

Jak could it be the sound codecs?

I'm no expert on playing audio CD's on a PC but it sounds like you don't have all the codecs for your sound card, I would think the makers website would be agood place to start.

Thanks Luton, but I nailed it already.

When I read your reply, it left me with two options -

1.) Slink off into the darkness, tail firmly between legs, or

2.) 'Fess up, suitably red-faced  , and admit to all and sundry to root of the prob, purely so NO-ONE else will ever exhibit such grand-scale stupidity whilst in possession of letters after their name (other than NIL BY MOUTH)

The problem, then ? Oh, well  I suppose I better tell you all......

I didn't have a Media Player installed :what? :badi :clown
