aaagrh! major annoyance inside - re shortcuts

I just updated my itunes and it has taken control of all my shortcuts, ie .lnk files that sit on my desktop, quick launch, start menu, etc

I am using Vista and so far have been unable to restore the correct icon/action when clicking any shortcut.

I have tried changing the default programs via control panel, but there is no .ink file type, FileType Doctor doesnt list .lnk

Creating new shortcuts from the original .exe still makes a new itunes icon, so this must be an associated extension, but which association does it use?

At the moment everything looks like this

I don't do Itunes, but to me that sounds like a prefrence thing. Do you have a prefrence tab or advanced tab that you can look for in that software?

 

fixed it
I had to delete the registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.lnk\UserChoice
then log off and on again

After that I used Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover from frameworkx.com to get rid of the big arrows

All done

 

Perhaps it's .LNK, not .INK.

That'll be $150.
