I have been working extra hard so it's as quiet as poss....so I can get on with revising for two exams that my company paid for a while ago and I had to postpone....but now the calls have gone down, we've been told we need to tidy things up ready for a move in March. It's so frustrating though - I was really looking forward to being able to spend some time revising and it's just not possible - everytime we get it quiet we have to do something else!!!!!! I am sooo frustrated!!

    Rant over

    LOL

That'll be the old trick where 'someone upstairs' walks past and sees you not screaming in frustration or smashing your head against a server chassis and thinks 'IT are underworked - can't have them sitting around earning massive money and doing nothing for it'...

Unfortunately, Lee, it's just about the same everywhere else... that's happened just about every place I've worked. To study, you've just got to bite the bullet and do it when everyone else does it... after work. For me, that's late at night, when the wife and kids have gone to bed.

Mike is right Lee. You are gonna have to use home time to study. Take atleast an hour a night and several on weekends. And you need to start building yourself a small home network so you can pratice the stuff.

Thank you for the replies - nice to know you're all the same!!

Just getting stressed as last year it was the wedding + some family issues. Now we are moving house next month (fingers crossed all goes smoothly) so need to spend nights packing, talking to solicitors, arranging mortgage protection, contents insurance etc etc...then suddenly at work it's manic - there's our office move, customers are being migrated to new site too...never seems to be any peace...I guess (most of) the non-work stuff is my own doing though

It must be crazy for you guys with kids, pets etc too...but you manage...so so can I! :biggrin

Will have to write out a scedule - and getting my certs can be the reward! :biggrin

I sometimes grab a quick bite and study during lunch. And guys often read on the "throne", so that's another few minutes of study time right there! :D

He hee! Cheers for that Mike!
Well being a lady (who doesn't bother with make-up at work), I don't take much time in the toilet, but the lunch time thing sounds good - may be able to grab 20 mins or so - enough for some questions or to read through a particular bit that's bothering oneself!

Tinus, I hope you don't mind me saying, but I noticed your writing is coming on a treat. It wasn't bad before, but previously you had mentioned you weren't sure how to put certain things. Now look at you - you are writing asthough English was your first language - it's excellent!!

Lee I know what you feeling. I am preparing for the 290 my self and I don't really have much time to study much at work as someone just quit and there are only me and one senior guy who do the IT stuff so its quite busy. After work I have school so it's hard to find time.

    Thank you.
Hey, but you're so lucky though. You are still sooo young!! Think of how experienced and qualified you will be when you hit my age, and, woah, when you're in your 50s+, you will be like, a real life professor:shocked :onthePC!! Stick at it. It really does expose you to a lot more because you have no-one to hide behind. Well done that you are taking on so much!!

Thanks Lee, I really appreciate the kind words.:biggrin I am young, but I like what I do which is the reason I am doing school part time and at times it isn't easy but well worth it in the end I think.

I'm the same as well as busy with work and then very committed with stuff so I try to study at night as least an hour and then throw as much in on a saturday. Well that's if the wife is not pestering me about her photography stuff and photoshop wonders:)

Never been able to study in work, I tried to make it a Friday afternoon thing for a while but that didn’t work. I generally study on some week nights and Sunday (depending on the hangover!). :biggrin

I mostly have to do the late night thing. My wife, girls aged 6 & 3, newborn of 2 weeks and a dog dont really allow me much time during normal hours to study.:biggrin Its hard going but then life was never meant to be easy
