I have just realised that I havent had a drink of alcohol for 4 weeks, this is a strange thing for me as i normally drink all weekend. I would probably drink most nights if it wasnt for the fact I work nights.

The problem is If I buy a box of stella or becks it will only last two days & most of the time second day wont involve too much drink as will have had the majority the day before

Do you think I have a drink problem?:morebeer

Based on the fact that you haven’t touched booze in four weeks I would say you don’t have a drink problem.

Even though you work nights you would find away to smuggle some booze in if you *really* had a drink problem.

    Take it easy :biggrin

See I am trying to loose a bit of weight as I am only 5ft 5 have a 36" waist.

The problem is I get drunk but I dont get hangovers I can drink a litre of vodka + pints and feel ok the next day.

When I was at uni I used to fill a pint glass half way with vodka and to the top with orange do that 3 times and its all gone from a litre bottle.

When I am out these days I usally have 10 pints then go onto treble vodka redbulls probably around 5 of those I usually stop when a I run out of money or b get bored

When I was at uni, I met this "wee Irish lass" at a house party. Well, one thing led to another and somehow I found myself in a drinking match with her. Well, even though I was physically larger HEIGHT-wise (to keep this post PG-13), the "wee Irish lass" drank me under the table.

Then there was another wonderful "bad career moves" of trying to out drink my half-Irish buddy of mine. Once again, I lost.

So based on my experience, I have to ask. Are you somehow genetically part-Irish?

yeah the thing is I have an addictive nature I cant just drink a couple of beers and leave it I have to have a least 8 bottles of stella if I am in the house or 8 pints if I am out otherwise I dont see the point.

Any one like to try this recipe for a good but strong drink.
    1st get a large bowl

pour in 4 bottles of BUD
then 3 cans of Carling Black Label
    Half a litre of vodka
1 litre of LILT or Sprite
1 can of tennents super strengh
    3 bottles of orange alcopops

NEXT get a ladel and you have VIKING BEER

if mixed correctly it will taste nice but will blow your head off

I am not responsible for any loss of clothing, vision or teeth if you make VIKING beer just be warned it is very strong and can make you go a bit nuts after a pint or two

EDIT: I am not implying that anyone has a problem or addiction ..........

This is a good point - if you can get to 35 days or seven weeks then this is significant from an addiction standpoint...considered the first milestone.

The others are 5 or 6 months and 12 months, then 2 years and 5 years...I think...

I used to know a lass a long time ago that worked insocial services treating adult addiction issues, and she was involved in program to get folks past the various milestones.

Alcoholism is more a state of mind than just 'drinking too much'. People can handle different ammounts of drink, but the AA tests ask questions like:
    'Do you drink in secret?'
'Do you feel guilty about drinking?'
    'Do others criticise your drinking?'
'Does your drinking affect your relationships/family?'

If you start answering yes to those, you may have a problem.
Coming home gagging for a pint is normal!

Several years back i use to be able to drink a case of beer a night, more if it was there and then go lay carpet the next day.

When I was done with the party life I never looked backed. I still drink once in a great while but I really can't tell you the last time I had a beer or mixed drink. Not because I'm afraid to but because I don't have a urge for it. I think if you went 4 weeks without missing it or even noticed you not been drinking I don't belive you have a promb. I wouldn't worry about it too much. When you have to live your life around your drinking then you better start to worry and reach out to family and friends for some help.

I am the thirth husband of my wife. Her first man was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver.
The second had a drinking problem. He died of liver ciroses.
No need to tell you my wife is not so keen on alcohol.
I can drink a lot before I have problems, besides saying no to the next bottle.
Those two collide, so we made a deal. She makes sure to have just three bottles ready for me, and a lot of coke.
