Hello again everyone, i have now ordered....

Mike Meyers Network+ Certification All-in-one Exam Guide
Mike Meyers' A+ Guide to PC Hardware: Lab Manual
Mike Meyers' A+ Guide to Operating Systems: Lab Manual

Is this all i will need to help me get my A+?? Will i need to buy anything else? I've seen people say on here about buying a cheap computer. Do i need to do that? Or could i just tinker with mine? I built this one myself so i have a little knowledge.
Just one last question how hard is the A+ exactly? Obviouly it depends on how much you already know. But just as a rough idea in difficulty level?

Thanks very much for your help everyone. I hope i can return the favour one day, if and when when i'm qualified.

The books are fine, but i would suggest a machine to <break>.
Nothing spectacular, something cheap and cheerful that you can get the feel of all the OS Comptia will quiz you on. From what i can remember about the OS exam was <how do you get to...> and <what happens if you right click this>
With a cheapy you can dual boot 98 and 2000, leaving your <normal> machine to explore XP (assuming you run XP on it, of course!).

I would say the course is a great introduction to the world of computing. As for how long to become A+ certified depends on you. I wouldn't think of it as a race, but a learning curve. Ask away when need be.

Not quite Si, he needs one more book.... A+ Certification All-in-one Exam Guide click here for link.

The lab manuals are exactly that, this is the book that you need to learn the material.

BTW the Network+ All In One is a little advanced for the A+ :blink

also look on ebay for a machine to take apart and put together and then install various OS's

Hey, I passed A+ already both exams.

The best I used was Preplogic exams and free exams
    preplogic was great!

Mike Meyers was good but onlyused his A+ questions and answers. and bought the A+ CBT from cbtnuggest.

    i love CBTnuggets and www.trainsignal.com
great CBTs they teach you as you go along
    vs reading 800 page book!

great stuff that help me passs A+
    preplogic question 65.00
    mike meyers questions 65.00
    cbtnuggets A+ CBT 200. 00
    total *********************
    330.00

exam cost like 340.00 both exams
plus i didnt want to wait 1 year to take exam over.

those three helped and lots of hands on building systems
of my own or getting old PCs to play with!

    itdaddy

very broad exame 80+ questions each
    both hard and broad...but doable!
