I was wondering if anybody's studied towards this exam?

I'm going to start on 70-680 and 70-685 soon, but I didn't realise 70-686 was an option for the MCSA. After looking through the requirements 686 looks very interesting, although doesn't relate to my current job role as much. I'd like to do it anyway for the knowledge included, but I was wondering if anybody could tell me if a lot of the information would be applicable to other Microsoft OS's? eg. Windows 8/10. I just want to really make sure it's worth doing in the long run really, because by the time I'm done with my 7/2008 MCSAs we might be looking to upgrade our environment.
