Has anyone done the 70-686 exam? As it's a design exam is it more about theory than know how to use the technology?

Also is it worth doing the 70-685 exam as well. Seems to me that MS maybe should of lumped the 3 client exams into one MCITP.

I don't see a lot of overlap between the 70-685 and 70-686. The 70-685 is basically troubleshooting whereas the 686 is deployment and planning.
The 680 is more of an overview of windows 7 useful for both the 686 and 685.
Personally, I don't need to know the material in the 686. No one is going to put me in charge of deploying W7 any time soon. They could lump the 680 and 685 together I suppose.

Isn't the 70-682 an obvious choice?

I believes it upgrades your MCDST status to give you both the 70-680 and 70-685 certifications in 1 exam

For me personally I don't believe in upgrading exams (at least not in this stage of my career) as I don't feel I would get as much out of learning the technology as I would from following the normal exam route.
