I'll be sitting the 70-685 MCITP exam this week and was looking for some last minute advice.

I sat and passed the 70-680 less then a month ago, I've read the Microsoft Press self passed study book and taken the practise test in the book getting a pass mark. I've also been reading parts of the Windows 7 resource kit and other books... What else could I do?

    Yep, a bit late :p

    I f**ked it up getting 510 :(
The exam format was strange being broken down into two parts. Oh well I'll bitch more about it tomorrow once I sober up, till then, Jack is my friend :)

Sorry to hear. I found that quite confusing to when I took it. Plus after you finish that section you can change your answer.

Look over the areas that you struggled with and retake.

Its the hardest test I have taken to this date.

Being careful not to break the non-disclosure here guys, I also commented in the end of exam review that I was not happy that there was segregation between the questions, as you couldn't correct them afterward like you can the others, and also itwas unclear how many questions were on the exam, therefore it was difficult to divide up the time.

If you got a 510, I am guessing you realise there is some work to be done before you have another go. It's a really difficult exam, and there were a lot of marginal calls in it for my liking.

Don't worry I'm not planning on giving details about it. It said at the start that there was 50 questions in 2 parts... I just don't know why.

I know 510 :( means a lot of work to do, but I think most of that were the stranger question formats :s which the MS Press self paced training book CD never had, as for the book it self missed a lot of things in the exam :@

I'm going to do my 2003 server exams 1st then go back to the 685 exam, since they stop in July.

See if you can pick up the book for the 685 by Darril Gibson. I've heard that it's much better than the on from MS.

I just had a look online at the reviews on that book and it screams that its missing parts... I would suggest people taking the 680 and 620 (Server) exams 1st.

As my 1st post asked, has anyone got any suggestions for the exam before i re-take it?

Never done 685, I did the upgrade exams which have pieces from multiple other exams. But if it's a tough one, then I can sort of guess as to the content you find inside.

But I did my exams several years ago, can't really help you there unless I took the books out and started going over the material again (unfortunately, don't really have time for that).

That's all right Shinigami, I know what I need to do for it in my view, basiclly learning every command Line tools and their switches, then run gpedit and spend a week looking at every group polices objects.

Yep, I was looking back on the Windows learning website and they say if you wish to sit the course for the 685, you would have to sat the course for Windows server 2008 and the Windows 7 course.

I'm going to re-sit this with in the next few weeks and I'm focusing on command lines and Server 2008.
