i have my 621 exam next friday and have been doing loads of studying, but seeing as the exam as parts of 620 and 622 do i need to read both of the books? or just the 620? because from watching the CBT 621 vids they are not really that in-depth like 622 is with things like group policy, networking/server based things

If I'm not mistaken, 70-621 is just a mash of 70-620 and 70-622, so you'd be well served to study both books.

I'm currently studying for 70-621 and am using both the books for 70-620 and 70-622. In fact, I'm putting a bigger emphasis on 622 as it builds on a lot learnt in 620.

That's right, if you fail one part you fail the whole exam.

As others have mentioned, you should know the material for both 70-620 and 70-622 in order to pass the 70-621.

ok thanks, just from watching the CBT vids for the 70-621 there doesnt seem to be much from the 622 in there, was just a little worried, but i do have the 620 and 622 books and iv been doing the practice tests, im finding it harder than the xp exams though for the mcdst, only really have two goes at this exam before it retires :(

I can tell you that half the exam is based on the 622 exam. However as the exam (70-621) concentrates on the advancements/newer features of Vista over XP, that would be the best things to concentrate on (that's not to say that's the only things that will be covered).

If you're not confident on passing the Vista upgrade exam before it finishes this month, you could switch to studying the Windows 7 version (70-682) instead; it's not due to retire just yet also Windows 7 is a lot more popular than Vista and they share some of the newer features that you probably already studied. 8)
