    Shorter Question today

What are the requirements to promote a member server to a Domain
Controller? Pick the most appropiate answers.

    A. The DNS service must be present in the domain. If it is not, you will be given the opportunity to install it as part of the DCPROMO process.

    B. You do not need to have an NTFS 5.0 partition in order to promote a member server to a Domain Controller

    C. You can perform the operation on a Windows 2000 Professional Computer.

    D. The TCP/IP protocol is recommended, but not required for Active Directory.

    E. The DNS service must be present in the domain. If it is not, you will need to set up a DNS server and then restart the process to create an Active Directory domain.

    F. You cannot perform the operation on a Windows 2000 Professional computer.

    G. The TCP/IP protocol is required to be in place in the network to support Active Directory.

    H. You must have at least one NTFS 5.0 partition on the server to be promoted to a Domain Controller.

    I. You must perform the promotion from member server to Domain Controller during the Windows 2000 setup processs.

    My answer:

    a. True.
    b. False.
    c. False.
    d. False.
    e. True.
    f. True.
    g. True.
    h. True.
    i. False.

So, A, E, F, G, and H look to be the answers, except F has nothing to do with the question although it is a true statement. The machine is already a member server, it just needs to be promoted to DC status. A and E are basically the same.

    My choice is A, E, G and H. :?:

    Ok peeps answer time

    Correct answer is: AFGH

    Explanation:
A computer to be promoted to a Domain Controller must be running Windows 2000 Server and have at least one NTFS 5.0 volume. Additionally, the DNS service must in place on the network to support Active Directory. If not, you will be given the chance to install and configure it as part of the DCPROMO process. The TCP/IP protocol must be in operation on the network-it’s required for DNS anyhow. Unlike Windows NT Server, the process of promoting member servers to Domain Controllers does not occur during the installation of the Operating System, but occurs after the fact.

im gonna agree with nugget and say F seems rather invalid, the question asks what the requirements are, not what you cant use, also the fact were promoting a member server to a domain server defines the use of 'a server' not a workstation

    just my 2c :)
