    hi guys do oyu know of a utility that lets me chech the rotational speed of my hard drive

    Best way is to note the model number and look it up!

    I don't know of any software that will do this accurately.

    For just comparision test run, you can use the
    Drive Speed Test from exibitionsoftware.com

    Of course, Steve Gibson's SpinRite give you more detail on your hard drive. Here is a screen shoot:

    It is 210 MB at 3600 RPM!

    How about Linux?

    LOL... Linux with Window's drive naming conventions?

    To tell the truth I didn't realize you had just copied and pasted from grc.com. I thought it was a window from one of your machines running spinrite.... I know you've been around a while so I figured it was just one of your old machines....
