Hi everyone,

I just stumbled across this forum through Google, and it looks like it could well be my home for the next few months

I'm waiting to start a 3-4 month secondment at work (building a large intranet - though my company is so incompetent at recruiting a Replacement Me, it's not likely to start anytime soon), and in the meantime work on A+, Network+, MCSE, MCTS and MCITP (SQL Server) - after which I can happily start jobhunting again, provided there's still an economy out there!

I've been dithering for ages over classroom/online/self-study (*why* didn't I find this forum before?! It would have helped so much!), but I've pretty much decided to go self-study for everything except online for the MCSE - as I've picked an elective which there aren't books for.

Anyway, glad to meet you all

Just because there aren't any books for it doesn't mean that you can't study for it on your own... plenty of white papers available for most anything Microsoft. What elective have you chosen?

It's 70-282 - 'Designing, Deploying, and Managing a Network Solution for a Small- and Medium-Sized Business'.

I guess I'm feeling a bit insecure - I've been doing a lot of systems/networking work over the last 3 years without any real training (thank you, Google, ex-colleagues and common sense!) so I figured I'd need more than white papers. I'll go check them out - thanks for the tip!

 

I passed 70-282 using the information that is freely available on Microsoft's Web site. There's plenty there!
