is there a way i can automatically set my laptop to require the windows user password to be re-entered after coming out of standby mode, without actually logging off? a bit like it does when the screensaver comes on!

    Thanks

A quick look suggests that if you go to Control Panel>User Accounts>Change the way Users log on and off, you can then select the Windows classic option.

Might be yer answer, but I've not had a chance to check.

    Mine does this automatically anyway.

Unless I set it a while back. Will have a gander at the settings.

Edit: OK, just checked. This is with XP Pro:

    Right-click desktop
    Properties
    ScreenSaver tab
    Power Button
    Advanced tab
Select the 'Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby' option.
