You'll *love* the Core 2 Duo. Mine is purring happily. :)

What mobo did you decide to get? Asus? Gigabyte?

As soon as Michael Meyers A+ 6th Edition is out, I'll probably get that and Trip's book at the same time to use for our A+ product.

Sweet. Good mobo - I'm using the Asus P5B with the smallest C2D, the E6300 (1.86 GHz). Only 2GB here. System purrs. Haven't seen a single processor or memory bottleneck... for once, I didn't have to shut down my virus scan to be able to multitask!

    nice one Brain
im looking forward to the improvement from my current Netburst 3.2Ghz
it should be a remarkable improvement

does it show up as 2CPU or 4CPU in task manager? not sure if they had hyperthreading on them or not :)

Completely different architecture on these Core 2 Duos. No hyperthreading. Good thing is... it doesn't need it. :)

...I never liked hyperthreading much anyway. Always seemed to nerf my CPUs, especially when I *needed* 100% processor utilization on a single task.

I'll look when I get home, but I'm pretty sure it shows up as two CPUs.
