That's a bugger Lee. Keep your chin up and like the others said, there's still time to make an informed decision about the future :thumbleft

Consider yourself lucky to be informed ahead of time. Here in the USA human resource SOP (standard operating proceedure) says you let people go on a Friday at 3:30 without any advanced notice. If they lose their home as a result, oh well...

It's a complete mystery where all these disgruntled ex-employees come from though.

 found CV for 2005 in a jobsite archive today. Updated it, and applied for 5 jobs...

someone came back saying they filtered my cv and to wait a couple of days to see if i got an interview!!

This is really scary stuff - had a strange feeling in stomach all day and mood in office ain't too jolly either! :blink

Ah well, I'll keep at it and go to whatever interviews I am lucky to get...and then, whatever happens, I get good experience...and you never know I may end up not having to leave after all!! :biggrin

what do you mean they filtered your CV? Are they blocking any responses you may get?

Lol no, I mean they picked my cv up out of the list of applicants, and whilst they had ruled out some straight away, they have takken it through to next stage (I guess to read it more thoroughly to see if they want to interview me or not)...

That's the way to go Leehaa, just keep positive and go for the jobs. Keep your mobile phone on vibrate because trust me the calls would be coming. Just to keep your current colleagues on the low down if you get the gist:D

Spoke to my MD today - a kind of "potential redundancy" interview. There are 3 of us in the support side of the company, and there will be 2 jobs once restructure has taken place. I am the newest member of the team, with less jobs to do (still asmuch work, but less different duties)..he wouldn't indicate whether I would be affected, but if the compant's trying to cut costs etc, I would have though they'd keep the two who do the most things...anyway, I started to get worked up about it all, so decided to put the focus onto something useful - my MCPs...I basically asked the cheeky question "will you fund my last two MCPs for the MCSA", and it looks like they will (will get confirmation tomorrow) - bonus! Have done a fair bit on 70-290, and am really gonna go for 70-291 too - figured that, even if i did fail, my skills will be a lot better from it ready for the new job (if it comes to that) How cheeky am I?, but hey, why not?!? Gotta be a right bookhead for next few weeks/ weekends - will practice as always on virtual pc too but it'll be worth it.
Also, nothing yet confirmed, but I now have 5 potential interviews - where people have called me up for jobs i applied for yesterday and today...
Nackered though - it don't half play on your mind. Was up at 5 am today cos i got excited about the MCSA idea, and apprehensive about all else...anyway, I think things are turning out a bit more positive now. Cheers for the support everyone! :biggrin

Good on you girl! You had nothing to lose in asking about it, and it looks like it might have paid off. You get your head in those books now, and whatever happens with your job, you'll be even better at it than you are now!

    'grats! :>

It's a pants situation that you're in, but when a door closes then more doors open.

To be honest, I'm kinda getting a bit put off with going into the IT industry because of all these redundancies. But just think, if you do get made redundant, then you will get a nice big cheque to help towards your wedding! :D

Also, it may be worth speaking to your manager and see if there is any roles that you could transfer to after the restructure.

It's the law in this country that's why people get advanced notice of redundancy, there has to be a consultation period of upto 90 days.

    WTF WTF WTF,

Right, there are two MDs where I work and there is also my boss. My boss and one of the MDs were totally fine with paying for the exams. The other MD said they won't pay for me to do them until the restructure has taken place. Days just gone from bad to worse.

My boss, who is fantastic and always put 200% is totally in shock and expecting to lose lots of his assets etc.

I'm gonna do my certs and fund them myself, keep applying for other things.

I'm not going to walk out as It's my motto to make a good impression, but I'm certainly starting to see some people in a totally different light! :cussing :mad

Chin up girl, if worst comes to worst your possible new employer may fund your exams. This is easier said than done , I know , but you must try to stay level headed and focused about what you have to do.At the minute you need to be employed 1st and foremost , funding of your exams isn't your immediate priority, that will be sorted out when you know where you stand job wise.

    Be strong. It'll come.

    Thank you.

It's just I realised that If I finished MCSA in next month or so, it would increase my chances of getting something better, as, yep, I still have most of the skills without the title (have already been studying, doing loads of practical stuff along with my full time job towards it), but when it comes to someone skim-reading a CV, the title sure would help.

Once I get an interview, I am confident that I will come accross as skilled etc, but it's the getting my CV noticed stage that i'm panicking about!!!

The exams were also a way to focus on something positive and divert my attention from all that's happening - I like some kind of focus!
