I mentioned this a few weeks back, that i was getting in touch with a school for some volounteer work. Just been there today and... wow, they have ****loads on, they are redoing a lot of labs, upgrades, new servers, etc, i wont know whats hit me lol. Im nervous and excited at the same time, i know this will be awesome on my CV. Think ill put the head in the books to make sure im up to scratch with the terminology, and lopok into vsphere 2003, as thats what they are using at the mo. They are migrating from windows xp to win 7, so that will be good, also there will be computability issues with software that the bloke i spoke to mentioned.

Start on the 25th July, cant wait, whoo hoo

    Excellent! Well done!

You are going to learn loads doing that mate and the very fact it's on a voluntary basis screams "willing, able and motivated" to potential employers.

If I was you, after each day I would make notes on what you've learnt, a diary/journal if you like. That way you can easily go back on what you've learnt and place it on the CV. If you don't do something like this, you might find it difficult to remember what you did and ultimately sell your self short on your CV because you forgot something important.

As an example of this, when I first started at my current place I was producing a promotional video (nothing fancy) for our business and the work we do. Two weeks later it was shown at the Houses of Parliament with our CEO narrating over the top of it. I made sure I wrote down the names of all the software I used, the processes involved, techniques, etc (some of which involved actual camera work) then I summarised it all in a digestible form for the CV.

I hope it goes well for you, and please let us know how you get on.

    :biggrin
