We have got the Headmaster at my school a PDA (Xda Exec) so that when he is out and about he can access his emails. It is running the latest windows for PDA's.

Now I'm having problems getting this damn thing to connect to our exchange server.

Quick network guide, ISA 2004, exchange 2003, we have no problems running OWA and we are using forms based authentication.

I am trying to use ActiveSync to syncronise the mailbox. I have installed our certificate on the PDA which is used on ISA and exchange. The appropiate settings on exchange and in AD are OK.

I have seen the connection go through ISA but it just sits there and says that it can't connunicate with the remote server. Now I'm guessing this is either forms based authentication issue or IIS or both. I really need to sort this out before I throw the F***ing thing out the window.

If you need any more infor please let me know.

    Thanks

Just to make sure the certificate isnt causing the problem try this...

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...B8-8B3A-4F1D-8E94-530A67614DF1&displaylang=en

Ive used it before when troubleshooting this kind of problem. Also try over port 80 (uncheck SSL on the Xda and forward port 80 on the firewall) and try again. I know this isnt the best config in regards to security but if you can get the device to talk to Exchange then you can lock it down after.

Edit: What version of Windows Mobile is on the Xda? v5.0 doesnt work very well with self generated certificates

    Cherrs m8 I'll give it a try tomoz:D

edit: it's v5.0 and the certificate is nt self grnerated. I have installed it as a root certificate on the PDA itself. It does match the name of the mail server and is recognised in the ISa 2004 firewall ( and is used there as well).

Can you use OWA from outside your local network i.e from home without issues?

OWA works internally and externally with no issues.
