Kenneth is a junior network administrator that has just implemented a WLAN extension for the department of the company he works for. Recently, a company security guard caught someone in a van parked on the street outside the company that was attempting to hack into the network via the WLAN’s RF signal. Sandy, the senior network admin has heard that the cell size of a wireless Access Point can be adjusted and believes that if the cell size of their new Linksys WAP 11 802.11b AP can be reduced, it will not extend beyond the building’s walls. Kenneth has some reservations about this plan. Which statement below is most correct?

    A. Sandy is correct. Kenneth should be able to access the controls of the AP via a web interface and adjust the cell size. Cell size adjustment is a common feature in all APs.

B Kenneth is correct. Cell size is a fixed feature on all APs and cannot be adjusted.

C Both are somewhat correct. Cell size can be adjusted on some APs, but only high-end, enterprise models. The AP they are using is typically used only in home and small office settings and does not have that feature.

    D. Both are somewhat correct. The cell size of this AP can be adjusted, but only if they call Linksys and receive a special code to activate this feature. It is not activated on this type of AP by default.

Correct answer time: Answer's C. Cell size can be adjusted but not on every AP. Only higher end units have this feature. The linksys unit described in the scenario is commonly used for home and small office use.

    New one tomorrow.
