Merry is a technical writer specializing in books and articles on WiFi technology. She is writing a newsletter for a networking magazine about how the 802.11i standard is going to replace WEP wireless security. The 802.11i standard replaces WEP encryption with robust AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and TKIP (Temporal Key Protocol) encryption and leverages 802.1X authentication. According to Merry’s article, when will the 802.11i specification be officially released?

    A. January 2005
    B. December 2004
    C. September 2004
    D. July 2004
    E. It will be official by the time you read this QOTD

I did a bit of research on this but was unable to pin down an exact date. It seems lots of people thought it might be released late 2003 but it wasn't. So, when in doubt go for C [IMG]

AJ Scores! And the crowd goes wild! Correct answer is E. I think I read this one in the EE Times so they ought to know. The author of the article said the specification would go live by the time the article was printed.
