Rachel is a technician in the IT department for a shipping and receiving firm. The company is planning a migration from wired to wireless network operations on the receiving dock to make managing inventory recording more efficient. Rachel has little experience using WLANs so is doing some research. She is learning about the authentication and association process. In her reading, which of the following statements can be considered true? Choose three. Answer later.

    A. Mobile wireless clients can authenticate to more than one access point at a time.
    B. Mobile wireless clients can authenticate to only one access point at a time.
    C. Mobile wireless clients can associate with more than one access point at a time.
    D. Mobile wireless clients can associate with only one access point at a time.
    E. Pre-authentication makes for faster and smoother roaming
    F. Post-authentication makes for faster and smoother roaming.

Correct answer is ADE. A client can authenticate to more than one access point at a time but can only associate with one at a time. Preauthentication speeds up the process of roaming because you don't have to go through the authentication and association process each time you engage a different AP.

    Good one. More later
