    Hi Guys,

I have purchased a Wireless NIC for my Desktop so I can link up to my Wireless Network but I am having problems connecting to it. For some reason it keeps connecting to my neighbour's unsercured network instead of my own. I can open my "View Wireless Networks" but i get a message saying Windows cannot configure the wireless connection!

    Any ideas much apreciated!

    Regards

    Rob

Have you checked the NIC has compatible authentication/encryption settings?
    What OS are you using?
Sounds like you've opted to connect to your neighbours WAP automatically so deleting it from the list might be helpful.
Have you tried to create the connection manually?
Have you tried using the supplied software for the NIC?

I've had this before. make sure it's not in the wirelss profile list.

Assuming you're on windows 7 - the attached image. Delete it from there and re-try your connection then set it as preferred.

Alternatively go over your neighbours and smash up their router :D

Turn off WZC? Just a thought.

I am using Windows XP and have installed the software that came with the NIC.

    What is WZC?

I've attached a word doc with two pictures of screen dumps of my desktop with what it says in the bottom corner.

Best to try and configure the wireless settings with the software that came with the wireless card. The pic is from the standard Windows wireless software. Only one can manage the wireless connections.

I believe you need to go into network connections and go into the properties of the wireless connection. Then go to the wireless network tab and put a check mark in the allow windows to configure my wireless network settings.

I'd try the software that came with the NIC first.

Uninstall the software. Turn on wzc services from service.msc . Then from windows utility refresh the network list and you should be able to connect to your preffered network.
*If it still connects to you neighbours network go to "change the order of preffered network" and then "remove" your neighbours network from the list. That should do it.
