Just asking how to make a bootable copy of my xp disk for backup purpose my original is on its last legs.

Follow this link and just exclude the part about slipstreaming SP2 if your disk already has it inlcuded if not you can update your disk as you make a backup copy

If you just want to make a backup copy then any decent CD copier will do it, as it will copy the boot bit as well.
