Hey guys, I'm hoping someone else has experienced this on XP. I googled the problem and came up with someone who had the issue on vista, but.....

In the Lan properties, of the NIC's, when you look at the TCP/IP properties on a computer with a MANUALLY assigned IP, the tickbox that says 'obtain an IP address automatically' appears ticked, but the DNS server addresses are still in there.

These are definately computers with manually assigned IP's, and on occasion when you initially enter the TCP/IP properties screen, it displays the manually assigned IP for a split second, then reverts to 'Obtain IP address automatically.'

The ipconfig shows the correct manually configured address.

    Has anyone else had this?

I'm not 100% sure what the problem is. If you have set the PC to pick up an IP automatically, you have the option to pick up DNS server automatically or you can specify them - Whereas setting the IP manually you must specify a DNS server.

    Hi Jay,

These PC's have manually set IP's.

Have you clicked the advance button on the IP Properties page?
