Are they going to replace the Vista upgrade exam or have a Windows 7 upgrade for the MCDST?

No Microsoft is not going to replace the Vista upgrade exam, as you will still be able to upgrade from the MCDST to the MCITP: EST.

But Microsoft is/will be releasing an exam that will upgrade both the MCDST and the MCITP: EST to the MCITP: EDST 7 (Windows 7 version) - you will have to pass the exam 70-682 and one HDI exam. See here. So far there is no upgrade path to the MCITP: EDA 7 track which is higher.

Thanks for the info Ken, I was thinking about doing a windows 7 exam instead of upgrading my MCDST to the Vista one.
