I'm about to start designing a whole new infrastructure for a 300 user company including DR. It's going to include some real sexy stuff:

- 2 x HP 3PAR F200
- VMware Site Recovery
- VMware Enterprise (Plus if we have the budget)
- SQL 2008 Cluster
- Exchange 2010 DAG with Hardware NLB

Time to get balls deep

 

Sounds good.....what HLB will you be using? I have just set up an alteon 4416 to LB Exchange 2010 and SharePoint.

 

I was looking at 2 x Kemp Technologies Loadmaster Exchange 2010 Load Balancers per site.

Ah interesting piece of kit, just had a read about it. Benefit of the one we use is i guess is we can customise the config so it works with all different apps. Wouldn't pretend to know much more about them though as this was the first HLB i have configured. So much you can do with them though!

 

Mate, I haven't got a scooby about them, but what I do know is that it will work with Exchange 2010.

This and the fact that if you are Load Balancing Exchange which would normally be to ensure HA, then it's worth having two of everything/

 

Yep it's certainly got to fill you with more confidence having a box that is there ready to rock with Exchange!

That is exactly what ours is for. Two HLB's in active/passive using VRRP, then two exchange servers in behind dual homed to separate switches Looking forward to the sevrer guys finishing their config so i can go rebooting switches/pulling cables/removing the primary Alteon and hoping we don't lose services

Well I have been working on the design and specification and am pleased to say we have won the deal!
