    Hi,

I'm doing some practice exams and I'm getting a bit concerned about an answer, as if I'm wrong, my understanding of a subject is way off. Can anyone advise if it's me or the practice question that is incorrect?

I'll paraphrase the question as required by posting rules:

    • User1 has a shared folder with caching enabled.
    • User2 connects from home to this share.
    • User1 creates a file on day 1
    • Day 2 User2 connects to the network and modifies the file.
    • Day 3 user1 modifies the file
    • user2 does not connect on day 3

What happens when user 2 connects to the network on day 4?

I chose, The file cached file on user2 PCs will be overwritten by the file from the network share.

Correct answer, user2 will be prompted for which file to use. Explanation given is that the cached copy and the server copy have been updated.

I can't see why, as the question explicitly states user2 did not access the files on day 3, I thought it should be:

    Offline - not changed
    Shared copy - changed
    Result - offline copy updated.

Anyone able to point out whats going wrong?

    Many thanks.

PS. Mods, apologies if this is too near copywrited material. Will delete if necessary.

Sorry, wasn't intending to be rude!

I have my 271 exam on Monday, and despite working in IT for over 4 years and spending the last few months studying, I'm struggling a bit with the practice questions.

I feel I know the material quite well, but I can't quite get my head into the process they are trying to get me to follow. So sometimes I think I must be right, only to be told by the practice engine that I'm wrong.

This question is an example of one I can't see why am I wrong and just need someone else to either agree with me, or tell me how dumb i'm being

    Umm...

Got to be honest, on the assumption that he made no changes whilst offline, I would expect the online version to replace the offline version; however, if he had made changes offline, then I would expect him to be given a choice.

Edit: Oh, and welcome to CF! 8)

Thanks, that helps as it confirms my understanding of the material is correct. Which means either:

    - I read the question wrong (doh)
    - the software is wrong (also doh)

    Thanks for your help.

Woohoo...passed 271 with a score of 916. Guess I did understand enough after all!

Measureup exams seem to be a lot more difficult than the real exam. I guess this is no bad thing.

Woohoo.... 272 passed with a not too shabby (if I dare say so myself) score of 1000.

Now a fully qualified MCDST, MCSA next?
