OK SO DOS Windows 3.1 , 95 , 98 , 2000 and XP thats alot to learn about!!

What are the main ones that i should focus on to pass the OS exams?? (I will study all but will spend more time on the important ones lol)

If anyone could advise i would really appreciate it,

my guess would be DOS, 2000 and XP???

I'd concentrate on Win9x and Win2k/XP in the current exam.

There may be 'DOS' stuff there, but mostly because the command/cmd window uses such commands.

Each exam is unique to some extent,so there are no real pointers to what you need to know.My A+ exams, both core and OS were very heavilly weighted with networking based questions, which I'd studied hard for and luckilly got the right result. There was no pointer to what I needed to know, but I made sure I had all the objectives covered.

There may be a 'Which operating systems can you upgrade to XP' style question and Windows 3.1 may be listed as an option.

I dont think you would see any other type of question that involves that OS though :biggrin

From what i can recall, in my OS exam there were a few questions asking how to get to certain utilities and what happens if you right click so and so......
    I would advise a good <mooch> around 98, 2000 and XP. :thumbleft

It's a shame really that Windows 3.11 isn't included - IMHO you would learn more about computers configuring Windows 3.11 than you ever will with plug and pray operating systems.

I would say make sure you're aware of the common features between the Oses but be aware of what things are done differently. As Boyce says, those "what happens if you click" questions come up and can be influenced by the OS you're using.

...and just to note if you are doing the OS exam, expect a couple of Core questions threw into the OS exam and vice-a-versa.
