Hi, i am curious what people think is the best way to get into IT security and what to study. I see a LOT about it in the news these days and am convinced its a large emplyment area in the future. Just curious if I was to jump on the bandwagon so to speak what would be the best qualifications to start studying for in the very long journey to get into such a job, baring in mind I have zero IT qualifications!:biggrin

If you arent working in IT already, just to give you a simple answer i would start with the CompTIA A+ and then the N+, these will give you a good starting point.

    Certifications: CompTIA A+, Network+, CCENT
    WIP: ICND2 200-101

Security+ is a good intro into security in general, worth giving a book like the Mike Meyers book a read.

At least would get you familiar with some of the concepts and see if you like the topic.
