I am currently at college doing this BTEC National Diploma in IT predicted DDD.

I am studying for the CompTIA A+ part time and about to take the exams for it, i will also try to do the MCDST while i am at college.

I have applied to universities and been accepted in some good ones (Not sure if i want to go).

I don't know what area of IT i want to end up in and have no experience.

    What are my best options?

I did the same Diploma as you mate, and it helps on your way into Support IT career, there are plenty of other specialised entry points such as web design and software development, but for general IT it is usually Help desk which is either technical IE at site fixing computers or remote help desk which is remote desktop and phone etc.

Usually you start as 1st line and advance upwards to 2nd then onwards into a specialised area.

If you'e got accepted to a Uni, I would recommend doing that first, then decide what area of IT you want to go into.

What are you thinking about studying at University- is it an IT subject?
You might be able to study your A+ around your degree.

Go to university but go to one with the option to have a year out in industry before your final year. Also if you go for university make sure you look at all the grants available out there to students. Local authority and plenty of others. Also move away and dont stay at home!

    Enjoy!
