I really don't want to get into a 'quote-war' but here we go...

From an outside perspective it's down to the individual to choose what they want to do. Forum advice comes from lots of different directions and expresses lots of different opinions. Just because I don't feel the need to do 270 over 621 due to previous experience doesn't mean that everyone is going to blindly follow my advice, and if they do then they're not appreciating the context of a forum. In my original post I did say that doing both exams was the best advice and I still stand by this.

It was said in jest. Everyone is still using XP. I did my MCDST because.... it's useful. Why? Because my company is still using XP too :p

Agreed. Personally it would be to take the 621 over the 270, which is what I'm doing. Each to his/her own. Everyone has different experience levels and if a person feels they will be learning more and becoming a better tech by taking a particular exam over another (which is what I'm doing) then all the better.

It's a forum environment!! Therefore there is going to be a range of different opinions and arguments for and against. It's up to the user reading the forums to make a decision for themselves based on these opinions. If they actually read the thread in its entirety then they would get a more rounded view and make a decision for themselves.

If someone is seriously going to randomly select this thread, jump straight to my singular post and decide to screw XP off and focus on Vista then it's facepalm time right there and then. More fool them. It's on par with me telling someone to jump off a bridge. They don't have to do it you know? :p

I can appreciate what you're saying.

...Can we stop this now please? Truce? :p

Ah am only messing mate. Some good points have been raised because of this thread and as someone with both 620 and 270 I agree with you and Boson that both is always the only way to be 100% sure your skillset is ready for both an old and new challenge.

    Isn't it great the way we'll have to do this all over again for Windows 7 . . . . . . . can't wait . . . . . .

Yeah me too. Wouldn't it be nice if you could steal something someone else had made then patent it, sell it, buy it back then do the odd mod to it then sell it world wide and make sure that everyone uses it so they have keep buying it?

He had a good plan :p

Doesn't matter who gets the money; we aren't certifying for his benefit, we're certifying for ours. :)

Or, if you're *really* worried about who gets the money, simply don't certify. Makes our certifiations look all the more attractive when we've got them and others do not. :)

It's not a quote war, and it's not about "being right"; it's debating your points so as to protect others from misinformation. Someday, you'll grow up and realize that.
