My laptop would not even fit on my desk. I have to much other stuff on there but joes no better to mess with anything when he wants to use the desktop. Move one little piece of paper and I will know it. Then be forced to rip your head off and use it as a bowling ball! 8) Did I mention that I'm very possessive of my tech gear? He won't even go near the new lappy. Which by the way is a visio 1000. For what your wanting I would upgrade though. I love mine and it does what I want or need to with the adobe dreamweaver CS3 so no complaints with my user friendly price range visio!:biggrin

If you're not careful I am gonna ask Mitz to duct-tape you again... :biggrin

Anyway... 8lbs... is that, say, 3.5Kgs? If so, that is quite some weight to carry. Mind you, it depends on travel. If it's car park into office, and car to home it's not sooo bad. If you're carrying that for 40 mins, plus papers and adapter, that's when the weight begins to tell...

Poor little guy... I'll bet you don't even let him use the rails at the sides of the lane... do you? :dry

If you guys would use yer muscles more, you'd be able to carry 4 whopping kilos all day long. Through the snow. Uphill, both directions. :D

Unlike you Brits who seem to want lightweight laptops, he's in training to be a MAN. :p

heeheehee - just kidding. Couldn't resist! :biggrin

Things aren't as compact in the US as they are in the UK. Most of you can easily walk to the grocery; if I had to, I'd have to walk 5 miles just to get to the closest one. Sorry, I don't have two+ hours to spend just going to and from the grocery.

Our family walks when we can... to the playground and to Hayden's school. But there's nothing else within walking distance.

how many freelance/field techies etc use a mac with bootcamp for their jobs? i mean does it even work on a windows based networks?

this is one of the reasons why i'm looking for a lappy, what type of specs are we talking? core 2 duo 2.0, 2-4gb ram, 250gb hdd, under 3kg, 13inch or 15.4 inch screen etc.

Yup... I'm the guy behind you, waving... 8)

Obviously, I don't need to use rails myself... they're for the little fella...

By the way, back to topic... I have also used Dell D410, C600, C610 and D600... they were good machines, well built. But the Fuji's are too.

I reckon it's going far more that way in the UK... local shops disappearing where I live. Local butcher closed last year. Nearest supermarket is at least 3 miles away. If you want a big shop, you have to take the car.

My wife walks with my youngest son to school, then has to dash back to get in the car to drive to work, about 5 plus miles away.

We're not helped by the fact public transport is ****.

I work more than 30 miles away... I've *really* got no choice. :)

To be honest, I've never been to a butcher shop. Wouldn't have the faintest idea what one is like. I'm not even sure that they exist in Nashville! :D

I manage to do a fair bit of work from home nowadays... used to travel over 1100 miles a week, but not anymore... 8)

You don't eat meat, or you just don't have butchers shops? In the old days, 'when I were a lad', the one near my mum and dad had sawdust on the floor...

We just don't have butchers shops... we just buy our meat from the supermarket (who has one or more butcher-type individuals on staff).

I certainly eat meat. My wife does not - I'd go crazy being a vegetarian.
