Never think that a job title tells you anything!

In my last job I had a very grand title.

In my current job I do not have a grand job title but there is a difference:

    a) I now help run a national system

    b) I make a real difference to peoples lives

    c) Technically I am in a very demanding job

Hm - my description keeps changing. I used to be a 'systems developer'. I'm now described as a 'Voice Systems Analyst'.

Both of those fail to cover the wide range of things I do.

    And I work for a telco/ISP/network owner/broadcaster.

In fact the majority of my work has been in telco wholesale billing.

    IT Security Officer.

Have done everything from Sys Admin, to network Admin, to DBA and owt else to do with IT.

I agree though, it doesn't matter what your title is. As well as Security, I do WAN/LAN, Exchange, Server admin a bit of DB Admin and am project managing a 4,000 user migration from NT to AD. You'd never get THAT from my job title!

Systems Engineer – I support many networks as I’m sub contracted and I also get involved with one off projects for companies that don’t have the resources to do it themselves. This is generally migrations and infrastructure upgrades. 8)

    2nd line support.

Most of the job is project related, I also look after a few low priority servers. We also 'back up' various 3rd line technologies, I am backup for Lotus Notes/Domino.

Just came back from Berlin where I was involved in a project to roll out a smartcard/SSO (single sign on) to the whole network globally - must write up that blog!

Also DRI (designated responsible individual) for antivirus for the London/Tel Aviv/Stockholm offices.

Pharmaceutical company so documentation, procedure and change control is incredibly important. Analy retentive doesn't quite sum it up!
