Ok all...what speeds do you get at your place of work? Pop to:

    http://www.adslguide.org/tools/speedtest.asp

for a good speed test tool! US users will have to find a speed test site on their side of the Atlantic for more accurate results!

Anyway, here is the lunchtime results for where I work:

    Downstream 13075 Kbps (1,634.4 KB/sec) 14121 Kbps (inc. overheads)
    Upstream 5371 Kbps (671.4 KB/sec) 5800 Kbps (inc. overheads)

Should imagine it'll be quicker in the mornings...

    Let the games begin!!!

well we got a 2Mb lease line...but I think its more than that cos i have noticed download speeds as high as 350Kbps....cant do a speed test cos of Apple's own web browser....but I dont need a speed test done really...so about 350Kbps download on what appears to be a 2meg lease line...hope that helps...

Damn proxy server stopped the test from loading, thought it might, but worth a try.

Our School pays for a 2mb leased line uncontended, so that's 2mb up and down and we pay a pretty penny for that.

you have a 1mb ADSL line at work trip?
    harsh

Same as AJ I cant run the test thru the proxy
we have multiple bonded E1s (2mb up and down) and a LES100 between two sites (100mbps)

I used to have 3 LES100s available at work, and boy that was fun :P
downloaded half the MSDN stuff in about an afternoon, about 6 DVDs worth lol

So are you impressed with my work connection then? LOL!

I downloaded a FREE LEGAL Linux OS's 4.7 Gig DVD of from the newsgroups in 42minutes from this connections...I was most impressed. However, that was at 8am...quieter at that time!

    I get:

    Actual Speed True Speed
    Downstream 29257 Kbps (3,657.1 KB/sec) 31597 Kbps
    Upstream 15762 Kbps (1,970.3 KB/sec) 17022 Kbps

I am on a fairly busy LAN, and I have no idea just how many Gbps we have into 'the internet', but being an ISP it is a fair few!
