UCM, check this place out for more info.

I use Outpost Pro and have never been disappointed with it but I think it's now heading into the bloatware category.

Nugget the leaktest can it be used on Hardware firewalls?? Are they any type of tests to see if the hardware firewalls are doing their job?:blink

I use a pair of ISA2006 servers in an Enterprise array with a config as close as I could get to the one used by MS for CC validation
obviously I punched a few holes in it as required

I have the Vista firewall running on all my clients, the file server has the 2k3 Firewall, and err, no firewall on my mac :)

I use IPSec policies around my internal network too, and the wireless is on a dedicated subnet with VPN connectivity required for access to the LAN actual

Not too sure mate. Zeb might know though.

I'd say that as soon as a leak test passes from your pc to the net it's classed as legit outbound traffic and will pass the hardware firewall no problem. I don't really know but it seems logical (similar to skype).

Yeah your right, I have had attempts but everything has been stopped before getting anywhere, as it should be.

    Could not agree more
just because you don't see anything, doesn't mean the logs don't tell a different story
there are enough botnets out there that you will be at least probed more than once a day and probably more structured attacks every now and then too
When I was working as a security consultant log files were our bread and butter, even without a firewall certain network log files can give you clues in to what is / has been going on

I still need to get a decent Splunk server running for all those logs! :D
