    Hi all

In a bit of a predicament, I have been in an IT support role for 2 and a half years with a recruitment agency supporting up to 200+ users and I think I want to take the next step and move on into an IT consultancy company doing helpdesk support.

Considering I have no actual IT qualifications as such, just experience - what exactly should I be studying towards? MCITP Windows 7 Desktop?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Easiest answer is certify in what you work with and have experience in. That way you should smah the exams. What kinds of technology do you work in at the moment mate? I try to specialise in VMware related where possible but would consider Server OS my core skills to begin with

Mostly desktop support. But admin Server 2008/ General AD/ Group Policy administration. All in all a little bit of everything! Wouldn't say in depth knowledge though as most serious issues are escalated to our data centre.

I have never really touched VMware. Only when playing around with test enviroments for myself.

    Easy choice then...

    70-680 to begin, I think!
Then choose between 685 (for support) or 686 (for admin) and you've completed your MCSA: Win7 certification.

Need any help/info? Let me know.....

Is there much difference between 70-685 and the 680 as I already have a Microsoft Press Training Kit for the 685?

if 680 is the way to go - then so be it :)

Yeah, the 680 is about deployment, the 685 is the day to day stuff. Big difference.
