    "Gie's a Job!" :biggrin

You should probably just say that you submitted your CV recently regarding X Job. And are just calling up to enquire what the status of that vacancy is. If theres a closing date for the application, dont call before that date as they will just get annoyed. I would say leave it a week after the closing date.

    I love you.

    No, just kidding.

    Probably something like:

"Hi. My name is so-and-so. I interviewed for the such-and-thus position last week and am just calling to see how things are going. I really enjoyed interviewing with <person's name> and think working at <company name> would be a great experience".

    Just a thought.

Thats only if you interviewed. I think this is more a post-submission/pre-interview follow up. Could be wrong there.

Were these in relation to specific jobs, or just because you knew something about the company, the work they do or had heard on the grapevine they were hiring?

Pretty much what Fergal already said, Professor-Falken.

If you know the name and/or email address of the person you submitted the CV to, then direct your question to them. Leave it until after the closing date for resume submissions. If a closing date was not mentioned, then leave it for 7-10 days until after you have submitted your resume.

Ask something like this (if in a writing format):

You probably want to reword it, so it doesn't sound too strong/needy. But that's the kind of idea...
