    I'm working on staying conscious.

    Have an AV build to look at in one of our branch offices, some software deployment, a few office moves. The degree is still keeping me up at night, and attempting to have a social life means I've burnt the entire candle, and I'm left with some ashes and a small puddle of wax.

    hosts returned esxupdate error 10. Had a look over all the hosts and there seems to be plenty of space(df -h/vdf -h)

    {added}
    After editing the esxupdate.conf and changing the log file it turns out that the error was

    FileIOError: ('/var/tmp/cache/metadata875978848', "Cannot create dir /var/tmp/cache/metadata875978848: [Errno 17] File exists: '/var/tmp'")

    so I SCP over to the box and renamed /var/tmp to /var/tmp.bak and scan the host again and its now working(couldn't navigate into /var/tmp as it flung up an error).

    Rolling out Exchange online archive and importing PST's to archive mailboxes.

    We've ordered hardware and licenses for Forefront TMG 2010 so that's what I will be doing next week.

    Scrap my last fix turns out that all our hosts seem to have broken links after updating from 4.1 to 4.1u1 via VUM

    Code:
    ~ # find . -type l | (while read FN ; do test -e "$FN" || ls -ld "$FN"; done)
    lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root                 19 Jan 13 01:36 ./usr/lib/vmware/hostd/docroot/downloads -> /scratch/downloads/
    lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root                 17 Jan 13 01:36 ./var/tmp.bak -> /scratch/var/tmp/
    lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root                 18 Jan 13 01:36 ./vmupgrade -> /locker/vmupgrade/
    lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root                 12 Feb 21 10:16 ./scratch -> /tmp/scratch

    Wish i never bothered - patch cables turned up, all 3 meter length, and should of been 90% 1.5 meter - which meant i had waaaaay to much cable to try and hide.

    Manager decided to run the cisco ip phones on 100mbps switches (they can only go that fast), and the computers on 1gbps, which meant twice as many cables, cos the computers can't run through the phone at 1gbps, only 100mbps.

    Shelf in the rack fell off cos it's crap & cheap - which in turn smashed my laptop and knackered my hard disk which was on it and i lost my spreadsheet documenting which floor point goes to what switch and port number - then had to retrace about 50 cables back to the ports and re-document them

    All that on top not being able to turn the damn air con off in the room. only took me 11 hours

    </rant>

    I was due a day like this at some point, so at least it's done!

    Rough times, but well worth it! I am still trying to incorporate our software updates into SCCM... by the time I am done, it will pretty much do anything we want!
